Cervical Coblation Nucleoplasty
Buric, Florence Italy, presented the first one year data outcome on cervical nucleoplasty
at the ISMISS conference in Zurich, 2005 which Dr. Whitworth attended.

15 patients with a cervical disc herniation followed over one year after a cervical coblation
nucleoplasty.  The age range was 29-70 with a mean age of 44, 8 females and 7 males.
The disc levels receiving the treatment were: C4/5- 1,  C5/6- 10,  C6/7- 2, C5-7-  2.
Exclusions were black disc, >50% height loss, myelopathy due to significant stenosis,
extruded disc fragment, and complete annular disruption.

Results:  14 patients improved,  1 remained the same.   No complications.

Overall satisfaction rating was 68% and 85% of the patients were more than 70%
satisfied with the results.
